Ingredients
Origin. Character. Purpose.
Liquid Gold brings together three plant-derived raw ingredients. Here is what each contributes, and exactly how much of the blend it occupies.
66% · Hemisqualane
From sugarcane. For a fluid, silky feel.
Hemisqualane is a lightweight emollient that helps soften skin and gives the serum its effortless spread. Its clear, fluid character balances the richness of mixed vitamin E.
Ingredient name: C13-15 Alkane. Plant source: sugarcane.
33% · Mixed tocopherols
Vitamin E, in its naturally rich amber character.
Our vitamin E raw material comes from non-GMO soy and contains alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherols. It is supplied without added carrier oils, with a specification of at least 95% total tocopherols.
This is a gamma-rich concentrate. The supplier’s published certificate reports 60% gamma tocopherol within the tocopherol profile for that lot. Alpha and gamma tocopherols are naturally present in human skin and contribute to its antioxidant activity.
The concentrate is naturally amber to brown. Colour is part of its character; the certificate of analysis establishes its composition.
1% · Bakuchiol
From babchi. Studied for visible skin renewal.
Bakuchiol is a compound obtained from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia, commonly called babchi. Research on a bakuchiol cream has found improvements in the appearance of wrinkles and uneven pigmentation over twelve weeks.
It is a distinct ingredient, not a retinoid. That research informs our interest in bakuchiol; it does not establish clinical results for Liquid Gold.
Reading the percentages
66%, 33% and 1% describe the proportions of the raw ingredients in the blend. The 95% specification describes the purity of the vitamin E raw material, not the percentage of vitamin E in the finished serum.
